Country Walks Around BrighouseIn the coming weeks a series of walks are to be published on the yourbrighouse web site to give readers the opportunity to explore the interesting and enjoyable countryside in and around the Brighouse area.Peter Davies has very kindly agreed to contribute Walk Maps and Route descriptions from the Civic Trust Publication Country Walks Around Brighouse. Peter has been Footpaths Officer since 1992 and he created the Brighouse Boundary Walk, originally the Brighouse Centenary Walk in 1993, which became the Recreational Footpath, now known has the Brighouse Boundary Walk. The series of walks will be linked to public transport and will explore the outlying communities. The walks will vary in distance and time, however, each of the walks should be accomplished within half a day. The area covered will include Bailiff Bridge, Clifton, Coley, Fixby, Hartshead, Hipperholme, Norwood Green, Lower and Upper Edge, Rastrick, Southowram and Shelf. The Brighouse Boundary Walk will be covered in five stages, allowing less experienced walkers the opportunity of completing the walk by using, where possible, public transport at both the beginning and the end of the walk. Local sections of other recreational footpaths in the Brighouse area will also be included. These are the Bronte Way, Calderdale Way, Spen Valley Heritage Way and the Kirklees Way. Brighouse has some very attractive countryside close to the town and is worth exploring at all times of the year. We hope you will enjoy the walks we are planning for you and your comments would be appreciated. All maps and route details are published with the kind permission of Brighouse Civic Trust. |
